A beloved Blouberg landmark, Ons Huisie (meaning “Our Little House”) is set in a traditional Cape Dutch cottage right on the beachfront. It’s a place with a chill and relaxed atmosphere facing the ocean and a lovely “al fresco” area to dine in. They also have a pet fountain for your beloved four legged friends. Be aware that during the evening the wind rises and sitting outside can be quite chilling. Bring some extra clothes should you go for this option. It’s known for:

- Reasonable pricing and good quality

- Panoramic views of Table Mountain and Robben Island
- Potjie: this authentic South African dish consist in a mix of vegetable, meats or fish (or everything together) slow cooked in a iron pot.
- Eisbein: a heritage of Dutch/German cuisine, it’s a smoked pork knuckle, usually fried and then roasted to achieve a crispy outside and a soft tender inside. Best accompanied with mustard.
My personal favorites: fried fish and calamari, Thai west coast potjie, Karoo Poppers, crispy eisbein.

The Trecastelli family moved from Italy and fell in love with Cape Town. They are committed to deliver a piece of Italian tradition. It’s perfect for breakfasts, you will surely enjoy some authentic Italian sweeties accompanied with a espresso or cappuccino, or, if you’re in for dinner, you can sip some authentic Aperol Spritz.

The crusty chef Rick Douglas takes no nonsense (just look at some of his google review answers) and deliver beautifully cooked seafood and desserts, providing a variety of fish you will not find anywhere else. Bluenose and swordfish are just two of the particular variety of fish you will find at Orca. And, friendly suggestion, do not ask why they don’t have meat dishes, unless you want to incur in the ire of the chef.
